
Practice Leader
Julian started Abac in 1998; he is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and some of his other qualifications include Business Coaching, Sage Accounts Trainer, Sage Payroll Trainer, IT qualifications, Auditing Qualification, Business Mentor and Business Leadership. Julian’s strength is in helping others achieve their full potential, which is often more than they think they can achieve. Julian aims to split his work time over three activities:
In his spare time Julian loves anything to do with business or self improvement: books, TV shows, Newspaper Articles. Outside of work Julian enjoys food of any description, going to the cinema with his wife, practicing Karate and spending time with friends and family.
Accountant and Auditor Corporate Team
Áine is a qualified Chartered Accountant with a BSc (Hons) in Accounting who has been working in practice since 2004. Áine joined Abac in 2009; she takes a pride in her work and has a keen attention to detail which has led to her taking a lead in Audits, Grant and Funding Applications, Solicitors Reports to the Law Society, Charity and Company accounts both in Northern and Southern Ireland.
Áine enjoys researching tax laws and cases and keeps the team up to date with any changes/updates in legislation. In her spare time, Áine likes to spend time with family and friends and also pursues her interest in music by taking an active role in her local church choir.
Payroll Accountant
Ciara joined Abac in April 2009 bringing eleven years experience as a manager in the charitable sector and a BA in Psychology and Media. She is currently responsible for Payroll for a wide range of sole trader and company accounts.
With family members in the Construction Industry she quickly understood and took control of the Construction Industry Scheme sector and helps clients meet the CIS requirements. Ciara also helps the VAT team as and when required and is currently undertaking the Accounting Technician’s Ireland qualification on a Monday afternoon. Ciara works Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Manager Accounts/VAT/PAYE Team
Ciara joined us in 2006 as a Qualified Chartered Accountant and with a BSc (Hons) in Accounting to head up our personal accounts department. Ciara was promoted to Manager in 2008 and currently manages the Accounts/VAT/PAYE team.
Ciara recently completed the Excelus Manager Programme and as a result is constantly working on ways that we can do more for our clients, at a quicker speed, while maintaining quality and all at a competitive price. As well as looking after all our sole traders and partnerships North and South, Ciara specialises in doctor’s accounts, tax enquiries, capital gains tax and tax planning.
In addition to training our in house students Ciara gives lectures and seminars on tax and bookkeeping. Ciara also assists our sole traders with financial projections, business plans, bank and grant funding applications. Ciara works Monday to Thursday.
Accountant and IT specialist Corporate Team
David trained with Abac as a Chartered Accountant after getting his BSc (Hons) in Accountancy in 2007 and has now passed his Final Admitting Exams. David currently deals with a significant portfolio of limited company clients, assisting them with accounts preparation, company secretarial duties and also advises directors / shareholders on minimising their self assessment tax liabilities.
David has a specific interest in Accounting software and IT solutions, taking responsibility for assisting clients with the sale, installation and training of Sage Software. In his spare time David enjoys having a laugh with friends and spending time with his family.
Accountant Corporate team / Sage expert
Conor graduated with a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance in 1996 having started his career in accountancy in private practice in 1995. Conor went on to open his own practice as a self employed accountant in 2001; later seeing the synergy of being part of a larger team Conor joined our corporate department in 2010. Conor is also a member of the Institute of Financial Accountants and Sage Accountants.
Conor brings a wealth of experience from across all business sectors from sole traders, companies, government funded bodies to credit unions. Conor has a particular interest in developing client’s bookkeeping systems as well as installing and training sage software to meet individual client demands. Conor provides our tailored one to one and group training courses on sage accounts and payroll packages.
Outside of work, Conor has a keen interest in triathlons and endurance events and spending family time with his wife and children.
Accountant Corporate team
Allison joined us in July 2010 as a qualified Accounting Technician.
Allison has been in private practice since 2007 and during this time has gained a wealth of experience with VAT, PAYE and sole traders. Now working in the corporate department Allison is taking her previous experience and applying it to our company clients.
In her spare time Allison enjoys spending her spare time with family, socialising with friends and shopping.
Manager Corporate Team
Emma joined us in 2007 to head up our Business Consultancy and Sage Departments. As well as completing Business plans and Corporate Bank and Grant Applications Emma showed a keen interest in our Company Accounts department and was promoted to Manager of the Corporate department in 2009. Emma has been working in Practice since 1999, is a Qualified Chartered Accountant, and has Sage and bookkeeping qualifications.
Emma has experience in all aspects of a business including VAT, Payroll, start ups, growth, cessation and restructuring. Emma acts as a business mentor and also runs Sage clinics as well as taking full responsibility for the Corporate and Audit Department. In her spare time Emma is a Director of local credit union, is a partner is a Construction Business and spends time with her family and friends and her dog Roxy.
Accountant and Company Secretary for Corporate Team
Kerry graduated with a BA (Hons) in Accounting in 2005. Kerry started her training with Abac in 2008 and has experience in VAT, PAYE, Sole Traders and now Companies.
Kerry is currently sitting the Chartered Accountants Ireland exams and takes responsibility for filing all the Company Annual returns and other statutory duties as well as being actively involved in all other aspects of the Corporate team.
In her spare time Kerry likes walking, cycling and general outdoor activities.
Accountant. Sole Traders and Partnerships
Louise started her career in a private practice in 1998 and also spent six years as an accountant in the construction industry. Louise joined us in 2008; she is already a qualified Accounting Technician and is also currently studying for the Association of Taxation Technician exams, so she can spot more opportunities to reduce clients' tax liabilities.
Louise has experience in the preparation of a wide range of sole trader/partnership accounts and tax returns including doctors, children's day care centres, car garages, farmers, retail shops, graphic designers, construction workers, engineers and restaurants. She also helps clients with Tax Credits, student finance and other grant claims.
In her spare time Louise likes to work on the new home she is building and spend time with her family.
Accountant Sole Traders and Partnerships
Marie joined us in 2008 having already qualified with a BA Hons in Business Studies, a Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering and an OCR Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. Having already worked in the construction industry Marie has a keen interest in contractor and subcontractors accounts and currently heads up the preparation and analysis of income and expenditure accounts.
In addition Marie also prepares a wide range of sole trader and partnership accounts, she has already sat and passed some of the Chartered Accountants Ireland exams and is continuing with this Professional Qualification on a saturday.
In her spare time Marie enjoys keeping fit, spending time with her family and socialising with her friends.
VAT/Payroll Accountant
Paula joined us in 2007 to head up our VAT department. She is our current VAT accountant, qualified with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and brought to Abac an Accounts Manufacturing background and Payroll Bureaux Experience. She currently takes responsibility for all the VAT Queries, VAT planning, VAT returns, EC Sales, Intrastat returns for companies and Individuals both North and South.
Paula has headed up both the VAT and PAYE department in the past and also covers for the PAYE department when they need help. She trains new staff on VAT, PAYE and CIS in house, does one to one Sage Training onsite for our clients and also runs courses in VAT for new and growing businesses.
Paula manages her work life balance by working Tues to Friday and spending a Monday with her family.
Receptionist and bookkeeper
Sandra is the face of Abac and is normally the first person you deal with. Sandra loves to deal with clients personally or on the phone. As well as the important role of looking after clients queries and directing them to someone who can help, she processes all the Invoices, the bookkeeping and is Julian’s personal assistant.
Sandra comes with over 20 years office experience including a retail background, joined us in 2005 and enjoys reading, socialising and going to the Gym in her spare time.
VAT / Payroll Accountant
Michelle joined us in June 2010 following an Accounting degree, and is a qualified Accounting Technician. She has recently enrolled with Chartered Accountants Ireland as a trainee Chartered Accountant.
Before this Michelle has worked in a family retail business from a young age. She has also owned her own business and has brought with her valuable experience of PAYE and VAT.
Michelle is currently responsible for PAYE and VAT for a wide range of sole trader accounts and also assists with the preparation of income and expenditure accounts.
When Michelle is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys socialising, horse riding, and skydiving for charity.
VAT / Payroll Accountant
Louise joined us in July 2010 bringing with her 17 years of office experience. She started her career in a local accountancy practice in 1993 where she worked as a receptionist before progressing to processing payroll and VAT Returns.
Since 1995 Louise has worked for a number of local businesses providing admin, payroll and VAT services.
Louise is currently responsible for VAT and PAYE for a number of sole trader clients and also provides cover for reception.
In her spare time Louise enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, dinner parties and the occasional night out.
